Our weekends away are the good bit: a couple of days with women who get up for the same things you do. These terms keep the bookings fair for everyone, so we can keep running them. By paying your deposit, you agree to the terms below.
In these terms, “we”, “us” and “WE” means Weekend Essentials, and “the trip” means the surf or golf weekend away you have booked.
1. Booking and payment
- Your spot is reserved when we receive your deposit of 50% of the trip price.
- The remaining 50% (the balance) is due 4 weeks before the trip departure date. We will send you a reminder before it falls due.
- If the balance is not paid by the due date, and we have not heard from you, we may release your spot to the waitlist. Your deposit will not be refunded.
- If you book within 4 weeks of the trip, full payment is due at the time of booking.
- All prices are in Australian dollars and include GST where applicable.
2. If you need to cancel
We know life happens. Because we commit to accommodation, coaching and venues well in advance, our cancellation terms are:
- Your deposit is non-refundable once paid.
- If you cancel more than 4 weeks before the trip (before the balance due date), no balance is payable. Any balance you have already paid will be refunded.
- If you cancel within 4 weeks of the trip, all payments are non-refundable. You are welcome to transfer your spot instead (see section 3).
- All cancellations need to be in writing to hello@weekendessentials.com.au.
3. Transferring your spot
If you can't make it, you can pass your spot to another woman with our approval. Just email us with her details before the trip. Two things to know:
- For surf trips, she needs to meet the same ability requirement as everyone else (see section 6). This one is about safety and is not negotiable.
- Any payment arrangement between you and the woman taking your spot is between the two of you. We will simply update the booking name.
4. If we cancel or change the trip
- If we cancel a trip for any reason (for example, minimum numbers are not reached or a venue falls through), you can choose either a full refund of everything you have paid, or a credit toward a future trip.
- If weather or safety conditions mean the trip cannot go ahead as planned, we may reschedule it. Your payments carry over to the new dates. If the new dates don't work for you, you can choose a full refund of everything you have paid, or a credit toward a future trip.
- We may make minor changes to the itinerary, venues or activities. If we do, we will always aim for an equivalent or better experience.
- We are not responsible for costs you incur outside the trip price, such as flights, transport or gear hire, so please consider travel insurance (see section 7).
5. What's included
The trip listing sets out exactly what is included in your trip price (such as accommodation, coaching, green fees or meals) and what is not (such as travel to the meeting point, gear hire or extra activities). The listing forms part of these terms.
6. Fitness, ability and safety
- Surf trips are not lessons. For your safety and everyone else's, you need to be able to paddle out the back and handle yourself in the water without assistance. If you are unsure whether that's you, email us before booking and we will chat it through honestly.
- Golf trips welcome all levels, including genuine beginners. Come as you are.
- You are responsible for letting us know at the time of booking about any medical conditions, injuries or dietary requirements that could affect your participation.
- Our hosts may ask you to sit out an activity if conditions or your wellbeing make it unsafe. Their call is final, and it will always be made with care.
7. Travel insurance
We strongly recommend you take out travel insurance that covers cancellation, personal belongings and participation in surf or golf activities. It is the best protection if illness, injury or the unexpected stops you travelling, because our cancellation terms above will still apply.
8. Assumption of risk
Surfing, golf and outdoor activities carry inherent risks, including the risk of injury. By joining a trip you acknowledge these risks and agree to take reasonable care for your own safety, follow the directions of our hosts and any activity providers, and use any safety equipment provided. You may be asked to sign a waiver or acknowledgement of risk before certain activities.
9. Photos and consent
We love sharing real moments from our trips, and we will always check first. At the start of each trip we will ask whether you are happy to appear in photos and videos used on our channels. If you would rather not, just say so, no explanation needed, and we will make sure you are not featured.
10. Looking after each other
Our trips work because every woman feels welcome. We ask everyone to show up with the same warmth they would want on their first weekend with us. We reserve the right to remove anyone whose behaviour makes others feel unsafe or unwelcome, without a refund.
11. Australian Consumer Law
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that cannot be excluded. Our cancellation and refund terms apply in addition to, not instead of, your rights under that law.
12. Questions
If anything here is unclear, or your situation doesn't fit neatly into these terms, email us at hello@weekendessentials.com.au. There is a real person on the other end, and we will always try to find the fair outcome.
